Unusual parallel impression platen incorporating a flattened cylinder actuated by drawbars drawn by cranks from the rear of the fixed bed. The flattened portion is the platen itself. Three sets of identical grippers revolve around the platen during the back and forth movement of the platen. This enables one set to grip the sheet from the feed-board whilst the second is delivering the printed sheet above to the delivery tray. At the same moment, the rollers are inking the forme in the conventional manner. During the closing action of the platen, the blank sheet is taken by the grippers up to the top of the bed and held in position while the sheet is impressed.  Impression automatically throws-off if sheet miss-fed.

(1) Platen open, with grippers in course of feeding and delivering, rollers inking.

(2) Platen on impression. Top of gripper mechanism can be just seen. Rollers on drum.

(3) Printed sheet about to be lifted and deposited (clockwise) into feed tray, see top pic.
